A 22-year-old mechanic has died after a car he was working under fell off a lift and pinned him, police in Connecticut announced on Monday.
The tragic accident happened around 4 p.m. Sunday at Gurabo Auto Sales in Hartford, the state’s capital, authorities said.
The victim, local resident Cristian Soto-Carrasquillo, was working on a mid-sized SUV when the hydraulic lift came down, Lt. Paul Cicero of the Harford Police Department told the Daily News.
The man was initially listed in critical condition before he was pronounced dead on Monday morning.

“As with any untimely death incident, Major Crimes Division detectives immediately responded to ensure that there was no foul play which contributed to his death,” Cicero said in a statement. “The investigation revealed that the incident was a tragic accident, likely the result of improper/unsecure placement of lift arms.”
No further details of the accident were available Monday.
Police said the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have been notified and an investigation is ongoing.
