A Brooklyn man remembered by a cousin as an ambitious inventor was gunned down Friday in a hallway outside his second-floor Bushwick apartment, cops said.

Anthony Wilkinson, 41, was shot once in the chest by two men as he argued with them outside the apartment he shared with his mother and teenage daughter.

The suspects fled in a black Mercedes Benz that was waiting outside, police sources said.

Wilkinson was declared dead at Wyckoff Medical Center, police said.

“He wanted to make it big," said Bruce White, the dead man’s cousin. "He was always trying to create stuff, sleeping bags, different things like that.”

Wilkinson was also an avid sports fan, and looked forward to rooting for the Giants this NFL season.

“I wish I was here — maybe this wouldn’t have happened,” said White. "I saw him yesterday. Everything was normal.”

“He was a good man. I’m in shock. I don’t know why.," said White. "Everybody’s devastated right now. This is his home.”
