Boy waiting for Brooklyn bus killed when car jumps curb, smashes into him

An 11-year-old boy died Tuesday after a car jumped the curb and veered onto a Brooklyn sidewalk, striking the youngster as he stood waiting for a bus.

First responders arriving at Ocean Ave. and Avenue L around 2:40 p.m. in Midwood found the boy critically injured with severe trauma to his neck and back.

He was brought to New York Community Hospital but couldn’t be saved, police said.

A grey Lexus SUV heading north on Ocean Ave. abruptly swung to the right and mounted the sidewalk, careening into the boy, according to police.

The vehicle hit the boy then continued forward until it smashed into nearby scaffolding. No arrests were immediately made and the collision is under investigation, police said.
