Houston Rockets - Off the board
There are only eight remaining games in the regular season upon the July 30 restart in Orlando, Florida, but sportsbooks are treating that time like a separate mini-season, offering win totals for the 22 teams in action.
No surprise, the team with the highest win total is the Milwaukee Bucks, who sit with a 6.5 mark at DraftKings. At 5.5 right now are the Boston Celtics, LA Clippers, LA Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers.
The lowest win total on the board belongs to the Washington Wizards, who sportsbooks list at just 1.5 for their over/under. They’ll be without arguably the best three players on their roster: John Wall (remains out due to injury), Bradley Beal (nursing a shoulder injury) and Davis Bertans (injury prevention).
The Houston Rockets are the only team of the 22 going without a win total posted right now, as there’s currently uncertainty about Russell Westbrook and James Harden, who have yet to travel to Orlando due to COVID-19.
A lot of win totals will come down to just how motivated teams will be upon the restart. The Bucks, for example, have little to play for over the remaining eight games; they sit 6.5 games ahead of the Toronto Raptors and 9.5 ahead of the Celtics. But they might play at full strength just to get their chemistry back after the months-long layoff.
We’re also at the mercy of news, whether it’s about positive COVID-19 tests, players electing not to go to Orlando, etc. These odds could move in a hurry if a star is unable to suit up for the first couple of weeks.
